Basic Math Decoded is a tool that solves basic math operations.
The application has a friendly and interactive interface that is specially designed for children. It solves four types of operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It works with whole or mixed numbers, fractions and decimals. What I like most about this program is that it explains every step of an operation. This fact makes it very useful for children that learn the basic math.
The application has 3 interactive games that combine work with pleasure. The first one, 'Fast calculation', consists in choosing the right answer in a short time. The second game is 'Select the wrong answer'. There are 10 operations and you need to find the one that is wrong. The last game, 'Fill blank places', is a bit more complicated. In order to solve the operations of that game, the user should master basic math notions. The application also gives you the possibility to save the solution of an operation as RTF file. If you find it difficult to use the program, the 'Help' option could help you very much, because it explains every option of the tool. An important feature that the program misses is the ability to maximize its window. I think this option could have been efficient when you want to show the tool using a video projector.
In conclusion, I think this is a nice and practical application. The developers wanted to create a tool that could be used by everyone. The fact that it comments and explains thoroughly each operation makes it very useful for the young users.
